Music composer Selvaganesh is back at work after winning appreciations for ‘Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu’. With his mastery in Classical and Carnatic music, Selvaganesh has managed to induce the same in the album.
The album has seven songs, which are different from each other and lively to listen to. A pool of talented and experienced singers has crooned. Directed by Madhumitha, ‘Kola Kolaya Mundhirikka’ is a comedy caper with dialogues by Crazy Mohan.
Aasa Machane
Singer: Shankar Mahadevan, Anuradha Sriram
With Shankar Mahadevan and Anuradha Sriram in tandem, one can expect a brisk number. Selvaganesh has laced the song with melodious instruments. Seemingly inspired by a Classical raaga, the song penned by N Ramakrishnan is lively and brisk. Anuradha is as usual breezy all through.
Oru Varam
Singer: S P Balasubramaniam, Chitra
It's always refreshing and cool to listen to S P Balasubramaniam and Chitra. The two had sung many splendid songs before. Adding one more in the long list is this song penned by Francis Kiruba. SPB's soothing voice and with flawless Chitra's style of crooning makes it a special number. ‘Pakkavadhiyam’ finds a perfect place in the song.
Notta Kudu Thotta Kudu
Singer: Karthik, Suchitra, Ujaini
It has become an unwritten rule in Tamil film music that there should be a racy number with rap in between. Selvaganesh has made one such attempt here. The song penned by Andal Priyadharshini has been sung by a group of singers Karthik, Suchitra, Ujaini. The funny song with splendid use of ghatam by Selvaganesh is splendid.
Ada Engengum Aasai
Singer: Benny Dayal, Kalpana, Maya
The instrumentation and harmony of Selvaganesh is the USP of the song. Though the number doesn't have special thing in it, the orchestration is amazing. Penned by Na Muthukumar, the song conveys a meaning but in a simple manner.
Pooti Vaitha Vairam
Singer: Maya
It is the highlight of the album. The song with rap, konnakol is a perfect blend of varied musical score. Selvaganesh's mastery in blending various sounds is the strength of the number.
KKM Theme
Singer: Benny Dayal, Maya, Sri Charan
Imagine when the likes of Vikku Vinayakram in his ghatam, Matias Eklundh in electric, Jonas Hellborg in bass guitar and Ranjit Barot on drums coming together. It is a musical extravaganza. A pleasant fusion with many surprises is a delight to listeners. The voices of Benny Dayal, Maya and Sri Charan go well with the music.
Aasa Machane (Remix)
Singer: Shankar Mahadevan, Jaya Rajagopal, Anuradha Sriram
A remix in album is so common these days. Also it has to be racy and pacy. Selvaganesh has rendered a similar one here.
All said, it is perfect album for those who love Carnatic classical music with a contemporary touch. A mix of interesting instruments with lovely fusion, the songs are a delight to listen to.
