Bharath’s been seen as a village chap for a long time now and it appears to be that he’s shed that image at least in his forthcoming release ‘Thambikku Indha Ooru’ directed by Badri and music by the talented Dharan.
Recall the beautiful song, “Unnai Kandene…” in ‘Parijatham’, and you’ll praise heaps of admiration on Dharan for that pleasing composition. After using celebrated music director Yuvan Shankar Raja’s captivating voice for a number in another yet-to-be released movie “Siddu +2 First Attempt”, Dharan’s known to use the right voices for the right song. In fact, for the first time, Dharan is using leading singers like Hariharan and Shreya Ghoshal in this album. The young music director, who has many hits to his credit, has got hold of this opportunity to compose music for this Bharath starrer.
‘Thambikku Indha Ooru’ looks like a complete commercial pot boiler, and Dharan’s music will definitely prove to do justice, by being a significant factor in the success of the movie. The album includes:
Koothaadu Machi
Singer: Bharath, Blaaze, Prasad, Suchitra
A song probably that would show us Bharath’s dancing prowess on the screen. Dharan has composed a brilliant Hip-Hop number, with excellent rap by Blaaze, for the youth. Listen to it once and you would indentify the typical Chennai lingo of Bharath included in the lyrics by Kabilan. Vocals by Prasad and Suchitra complement the song. Besides the beats, that’ll keep your legs and heads moving, you’ll find fusion music of other instruments that make it a true dance number. Now, the big surprise in the song is the addition of Kuthu music towards the end, that’ll make your teeth bite the tongue folded, typical Naatu style and make you just listen more of it. This song is sure to be the next club topper. Definitely the pick of the album.
Yaaradi
Singer: Hariharan, Shreya Ghoshal
A complete contrast to the first song, Yaaradi…, is a rightly paced melodious number by Hariharan, the man with the comforting voice and giving him company in this duet is the melodious Shreya Ghoshal. She starts of with a Hindustani rendition that proves she’s the most sought after singer. Shreya’s voice is absolutely soothing in this song. The song ends with Hariharan’s humming, typically a signature finish by the gifted singer.
Yennai Yar
Singer: Naresh Iyer
A song filled with pathos, sung by Naresh Iyer, seems to portray the Hero in sorrow. Naresh as its known has matured a lot as a singer. If you’re an acute listener, the tune and the lyrics by Kabilan, will definitely make you sober. Dharan’s affinity towards using the sound of the flute is quite evident in the song, and he’s used it beautifully towards the end of the song.
Ore Minsaram
Singer: Benny Dayal
This song is short and has a catchy tune. The lyrics by Raj Kumar suggest, the song would probably come up when the hero meets the heroine. Benny Dayal’s voice adds pep to the song. A must listen song, at least for the rhythms.
Mudhal Pen Niyae
Singer: Javed Ali, Sindhu
Listen to this song with closed eyes, imagine Bharath and the voice of Javed Ali perfectly suits him. Dharan’s choice of singers should be appreciated, and also for the pace of the song. The female voice of Sindhu, is a fresh element in the number. Looks like Bharath’s wooing his lady love in this song.
Thambiku Indha Ooru
Singer: Benny Dayal, Mukesh
The title song has that touch of folk and starts of with the traditional beats. Voices of Mukesh and Benny Dayal totally add to the energy of this fast number. Definitely a catchy song to hear with some foot tapping music.
On the whole, ‘Thambikku Indha Ooru’, is an album dedicated to the youth. You would probably even see someone dedicate "Koothadu Machi" to you in the pubs. Music Director Dharan’s approach in this album shows his youthful taste and seems to know the taste of his listeners as well. In short, this album is worth your penny guys!
